Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) Policy

Our CDW policy is an essential part of your rental agreement, included in the rental price, which mitigates your financial liability in case of damage to the rented vehicle. We offer two levels of CDW for you to choose from, each with its own excess amount:

  • €500 Excess Option: Suitable for smaller or standard vehicles, offering a balanced coverage level for most renters.
  • €700 Excess Option: Ideal for larger vehicles or those seeking additional peace of mind with a slightly higher coverage limit.

Key Features of Our CDW Policy

  • Credit Card Security: The selected excess amount (€500 or €700, based on your chosen option) will be pre-authorised on a credit card (only) as a security measure.
  • Vehicle Condition: Renters are expected to return the vehicle in the same condition they received it. An additional fee of €60 plus tax will apply if the vehicle requires extensive cleaning beyond standard use.
  • Exclusions: The CDW policy does not cover damages to the underside, tyres, wheels, roof, interior, and glass parts, including the windscreen, unless caused by a third party in an accident. Damages incurred from off-road driving are also not covered, with the renter responsible for any resulting towing charges.
  • Inclusive of Fire and Theft Insurance: Both options include fire and theft coverage, ensuring comprehensive protection throughout your rental period.

We encourage renters to review these options and consider which level of excess feels most comfortable for their needs. Our team is here to provide guidance and answer any questions to help you make an informed decision.

Choose Your Insurance Package

When renting a vehicle with Arillas Tria Car Rental, it's important to select an insurance package that aligns with your needs and ensures peace of mind during your journey. Our Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) policy is designed to protect you against unforeseen damages, with two straightforward options to cater to different levels of coverage preference.

Insurance Exemptions (PLEASE READ CAREFULLY)

While we strive to provide comprehensive coverage for your peace of mind during the rental period, it's important to note that certain situations are exempt from insurance coverage. Understanding these exemptions ensures you are fully aware of the conditions under which you are protected and helps prevent any unexpected liabilities. Please review the following scenarios where insurance coverage does not apply:

  • Additional Drivers: Only individuals listed on the rental agreement as drivers are covered by the insurance. If a non-listed individual operates the vehicle, insurance coverage is void.
  • Impaired Driving: Operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any substance that impairs driving ability immediately nullifies all insurance coverage.
  • Traffic Violations: Disregarding traffic regulations, including but not limited to, speeding, running red lights, or illegal turns, can result in the forfeiture of your insurance coverage.
  • Off-Road Driving: Our vehicles are meant for standard road use. Driving off-road is a breach of the rental agreement and voids insurance coverage.
  • Overloading the Vehicle: Safety regulations dictate the maximum number of passengers each vehicle can legally carry. Exceeding this limit voids insurance coverage, and please remember, infants are counted as passengers too.
  • Key Mismanagement: Lost or stolen keys fall outside our insurance coverage. Additionally, any theft occurring as a result of keys left in the vehicle is considered negligence and is not covered.
  • Theft of Personal Belongings: Our insurance does not cover the theft of personal items from the vehicle. We recommend keeping valuables secure and not leaving them unattended in the car.
  • Interior Damages: Damages to the vehicle's interior are not covered unless they result from a collision for which you are not at fault, as outlined in our CDW policy.

We encourage all renters to drive responsibly and adhere to all terms of the rental agreement to ensure their insurance coverage remains valid throughout the rental period. If you have any questions or need clarification on any of these exemptions, please don't hesitate to contact our team.
